Dental Implants
Dental implants are a great long term solution for replacing missing teeth. They can also provide a fixed solution to having a removable partial or complete dentures. They are the best long term choice to promote bone stability, discourage bone loss and protect adjacent teeth.
Reasons for Dental Implants
Replace one or more missing teeth
Resolve problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space
Provide a confident smile
Improve chewing, speech, and digestion
Enhance or restore facial tissues
Make a bridge or denture more secure and comfortable
The Dental Implant Procedure
The procedure begins with x-rays and impressions (molds) being taken to establish bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant. Next, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and left to heal between one and six months. Once the healing period is complete, the artificial tooth is securely attached to the implant.
To ensure a long life span for your dental impants, regular dental visits, good oral hygiene and eating habits are encouraged.
Implant Dentures
Dental implants are also available with dentures to help hold the appliance in place securely and increase chewing capabilities. Dental implants eliminate the movement of the denture in your mouth and reduce the rubbing on your gums that cause denture sores. A fixed denture solution using dental implants secures the denture so you can regain the confidence of having fixed, solid teeth again.
